Operation and Maintenance of Wastewater Treatment Plant in Port Fuad City, Port Said Governorate

Project Overview

This project, undertaken for the National Authority for Potable Water and Sewage (NAPWASD), involves the comprehensive operation and maintenance of the Wastewater Treatment Plant in Port Fuad City, Port Said Governorate. The project aims to ensure the efficient collection, treatment, and safe disposal of wastewater while maintaining compliance with environmental regulations and sustainability requirements. Through effective operation, preventive maintenance, and continuous performance monitoring, the project supports environmental protection, public health, and the long-term reliability of wastewater treatment infrastructure.

Scope of Work

The project encompasses the complete operation and maintenance of all mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and civil assets associated with the wastewater treatment plant. Key activities include:

  • Continuous operation and monitoring of all wastewater treatment processes.
  • Preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of pumps, motors, blowers, valves, generators, electrical panels, and process equipment.
  • Operation and maintenance of treatment units, including inlet works, screening systems, grit removal units, biological treatment units, sedimentation tanks, sludge handling facilities, and disinfection systems.
  • Operation and maintenance of SCADA, instrumentation, automation, and control systems where applicable.
  • Monitoring wastewater treatment performance and laboratory analysis to ensure compliance with environmental standards.
  • Inspection, cleaning, and maintenance of pipelines, tanks, pumping systems, and associated infrastructure.
  • Emergency response and breakdown maintenance to minimise service interruptions.
  • Sludge management and monitoring of treatment by-products in accordance with environmental requirements.
  • Spare parts management, asset condition assessment, and replacement of deteriorated equipment.
  • Preparation of operational reports, performance analyses, and compliance documentation in accordance with NAPWASD requirements.
  • Implementation of occupational health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards throughout all project activities.

Technological Impact

The project enhances the efficiency, reliability, and environmental sustainability of wastewater treatment operations through the integration of advanced operation and maintenance technologies. The implementation of SCADA systems, real-time process monitoring, automated control solutions, predictive maintenance strategies, and data-driven asset management improves treatment process supervision, enables early fault detection, and optimises plant performance. These technologies contribute to reducing operational downtime, improving energy efficiency, enhancing treatment quality, and extending the service life of critical assets. Furthermore, digital monitoring and performance analytics support effective decision-making, regulatory compliance, and the sustainable management of wastewater infrastructure in Port Fuad City, Port Said Governorate.
