Electromechanical Works for MBR, BWRO, and Odor Control Unit Installation at JAFURAH Upstream Temporary Construction Facilities

Electromechanical Works for MBR, BWRO, and Odor Control Unit Installation at JAFURAH Upstream Temporary Construction Facilities

Project Overview

This project, carried out for Saudi Aramco and Veolia, involves the execution of electromechanical works for the installation of a Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) system, a Brackish Water Reverse Osmosis (BWRO) system, and an Odor Control Unit at the Jafurah Upstream Temporary Construction Facilities.

The project aims to provide an integrated water and wastewater treatment solution while ensuring effective odor management to support the temporary construction facilities. It includes the installation, integration, testing, and commissioning of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and control systems required for the reliable and efficient operation of all treatment units.

The project supports sustainable water management, environmental protection, and operational reliability by implementing advanced treatment technologies that comply with international engineering standards and environmental regulations.

Scope of Work

The project encompasses comprehensive electromechanical works for the installation of the MBR, BWRO, and Odor Control systems, including:

  • Installation and integration of mechanical equipment for water treatment, wastewater treatment, and odor control systems.
  • Installation of MBR units, including biological treatment tanks, membrane modules, aeration systems, blowers, pumps, valves, piping, and associated equipment.
  • Installation of BWRO units, including high-pressure pumps, membrane pressure vessels, reverse osmosis membranes, chemical dosing systems, piping networks, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Installation of the Odor Control Unit, including air extraction systems, ductwork, filtration systems, scrubbers, ventilation equipment, and associated components.
  • Installation of electrical power systems, distribution panels, motor control centres (MCCs), control panels, instrumentation, and field devices.
  • Integration of automation, SCADA, monitoring, and control systems to ensure efficient plant operation.
  • Mechanical and electrical interconnections between all treatment units and supporting utilities.
  • Testing, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and performance verification of all installed systems.
  • Inspection and quality assurance of installation works to ensure compliance with project specifications and international standards.
  • Troubleshooting, technical support, and corrective actions during installation and commissioning.
  • Preparation of technical documentation, installation records, testing reports, and commissioning dossiers.
  • Ensuring compliance with occupational health, safety, and environmental (HSE) requirements throughout project execution.

Technological Impact

The project introduces advanced water and wastewater treatment technologies through the integration of MBR and BWRO systems, combined with a modern Odor Control Unit. This integrated solution enhances wastewater treatment efficiency, improves treated water quality, increases water recovery, and effectively controls odor emissions from treatment processes.

The use of modern electromechanical equipment, automated control systems, SCADA, and advanced instrumentation improves operational reliability, optimises energy consumption, enables real-time process monitoring, and supports predictive maintenance strategies. The project contributes to sustainable water resource management, environmental compliance, and efficient operation of the Jafurah Upstream Temporary Construction Facilities in accordance with international engineering and environmental best practices.
