Project Overview
This project, carried out for Nama Dhofar Services (NDS), Oman, involves the development of a comprehensive Operation and Maintenance (O&M) Management Plan for the Wastewater Department.
The project aims to establish a structured and effective framework for managing wastewater operations and maintenance activities through the preparation of detailed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Standard Maintenance Procedures (SMPs), and an Emergency Response Plan (ERP). It also includes providing technical troubleshooting support to enhance operational reliability, improve asset performance, and ensure consistent service delivery.
The project supports NDS in achieving operational excellence by standardising wastewater management practices, improving maintenance strategies, enhancing staff capabilities, and ensuring compliance with industry best practices, safety requirements, and environmental standards.
Scope of Work
The project encompasses the development and implementation support of O&M management systems, including:
- Assessment of existing wastewater operation and maintenance practices, procedures, and workflows.
- Development of a comprehensive Operation and Maintenance Management Plan tailored to NDS Wastewater Department requirements.
- Preparation and documentation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for wastewater facilities and operational activities.
- Development of Standard Maintenance Procedures (SMPs) covering preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance activities.
- Preparation of an Emergency Response Plan (ERP) addressing operational emergencies, equipment failures, and critical incidents.
- Development of troubleshooting guidelines and technical support procedures for wastewater treatment and collection systems.
- Establishment of maintenance schedules, inspection procedures, and asset management practices.
- Review and improvement of existing operational documents and technical manuals.
- Providing technical assistance for diagnosing operational issues and recommending corrective actions.
- Supporting knowledge transfer and training of NDS personnel on developed procedures and management systems.
- Preparation of reports, manuals, templates, and O&M documentation.
- Ensuring alignment with occupational health, safety, and environmental (HSE) requirements and industry standards.
Technological Impact
The project enhances the operational efficiency and reliability of NDS wastewater services through the implementation of structured management systems, standardised procedures, and effective maintenance strategies. The development of SOPs, SMPs, and ERP frameworks improves operational consistency, reduces downtime, strengthens emergency preparedness, and supports better decision-making.
The project contributes to sustainable wastewater management by optimising asset performance, extending equipment service life, improving maintenance planning, reducing operational risks, and promoting the adoption of modern operation and maintenance practices within the wastewater sector in Oman.
