Operation and Maintenance of Nine Wastewater Pumping Stations in 6th of October City, Giza Governorate

Project Overview

This project, undertaken for the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA), involves the comprehensive operation and maintenance of nine wastewater pumping stations serving 6th of October City in Giza Governorate. The project aims to ensure the reliable collection and conveyance of wastewater to downstream treatment facilities, supporting uninterrupted sanitation services for residential, commercial, and industrial areas. Through efficient operation and proactive maintenance, the project contributes to protecting public health, preserving environmental quality, and ensuring the long-term sustainability of the city's wastewater infrastructure.

Scope of Work

The project encompasses the complete operation, monitoring, and maintenance of all mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and civil assets within the nine wastewater pumping stations. Key activities include:

  • Continuous operation and performance monitoring of pumping stations.
  • Preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of pumps, motors, valves, generators, electrical panels, and control systems.
  • Inspection, cleaning, and maintenance of wet wells, pipelines, screens, and associated equipment.
  • Operation and maintenance of SCADA and instrumentation systems where applicable.
  • Emergency response and breakdown maintenance to minimise service interruptions.
  • Spare parts management, equipment replacement, and asset condition assessment.
  • Performance reporting, energy optimisation, and compliance with occupational health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards.

Technological Impact

The project strengthens the operational reliability and efficiency of wastewater infrastructure by integrating modern operation and maintenance practices with advanced monitoring technologies. The implementation of SCADA systems, real-time equipment monitoring, predictive maintenance strategies, and data-driven asset management improves system availability, reduces unplanned downtime, and optimises energy consumption. These technological enhancements extend the operational life of critical assets, improve maintenance planning, support rapid fault detection, and ensure continuous wastewater services while contributing to environmental protection and the sustainable development objectives of 6th of October City.
