Operation and Maintenance of Two Sewage Pumping Stations in New El Menia City

Project Overview

This project, undertaken for the New Urban Communities Authority, involves comprehensive operation and maintenance services for two sewage pumping stations in New El Menia City. The project aims to ensure the continuous, efficient, and reliable operation of wastewater pumping infrastructure, supporting the effective collection and conveyance of sewage flows to treatment facilities while maintaining compliance with environmental regulations, operational standards, and safety requirements.

The project focuses on maintaining the availability and performance of critical wastewater assets through professional operation, preventive maintenance, corrective actions, and effective technical management practices. It contributes to enhancing the sustainability and reliability of the wastewater infrastructure serving New El Menia City.

Scope of Work

The project encompasses complete operation and maintenance activities for the two sewage pumping stations, including:

  • Continuous operation and monitoring of the two sewage pumping stations and associated facilities.
  • Preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of pumps, motors, valves, generators, electrical panels, mechanical equipment, and electromechanical systems.
  • Operation and maintenance of pumping units, wet wells, dry wells, collection chambers, rising mains, and auxiliary systems.
  • Inspection, cleaning, and maintenance of sewage pipelines, valves, tanks, and related hydraulic structures.
  • Operation and maintenance of SCADA, instrumentation, automation, and control systems where applicable.
  • Monitoring sewage flow rates, water levels, pressure readings, and equipment performance indicators to ensure efficient wastewater conveyance.
  • Conducting regular inspections, performance evaluations, and troubleshooting of equipment and systems.
  • Implementing emergency response procedures and corrective maintenance to minimise operational interruptions.
  • Managing spare parts, assessing equipment conditions, and replacing deteriorated components when required.
  • Preparing operation and maintenance plans, reports, records, and technical documentation according to New Urban Communities Authority requirements.
  • Ensuring compliance with occupational health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards throughout all project activities.

Technological Impact

The project enhances the efficiency, reliability, and sustainability of the wastewater conveyance system in New El Menia City through the application of modern operation and maintenance technologies. The integration of SCADA systems, real-time monitoring, automated control solutions, predictive maintenance strategies, and digital asset management improves operational visibility, supports early fault detection, and optimises the performance of sewage pumping stations.

The project contributes to reducing operational downtime, improving energy efficiency, extending equipment service life, and increasing the reliability of wastewater services. It also supports the development of operation and maintenance teams through knowledge transfer and the application of modern wastewater infrastructure management practices, ensuring sustainable operation of sewage pumping stations in New El Menia City.
