Installation of OZON Unit for RO Desalination Plant in Wadi Ad-Dawasir Governorate

Installation of OZON Unit for RO Desalination Plant in Wadi Ad-Dawasir Governorate

Project Overview

This project, carried out for the Saudi Arabia Ministry of Defense, involves the installation of an Ozone (O₃) treatment unit for the Reverse Osmosis (RO) desalination plant in Wadi Ad-Dawasir Governorate.

The project aims to enhance the water treatment process by integrating an advanced ozone disinfection system into the existing RO desalination facility. The ozone unit improves water quality by providing effective oxidation and disinfection, reducing organic contaminants, controlling microbial growth, and ensuring the production of safe, high-quality treated water.

The project supports the Ministry of Defense’s efforts to improve water treatment infrastructure by upgrading existing facilities, enhancing operational reliability, reducing chemical dependency, and ensuring compliance with water quality and environmental standards.

Scope of Work

The project includes the complete installation and integration of the ozone treatment system, including:

  • Site inspection and assessment of existing RO desalination plant conditions.
  • Supply and installation of ozone generation units and associated equipment.
  • Installation of ozone contact tanks, piping systems, valves, and accessories.
  • Installation of ozone injection and mixing systems for effective water treatment.
  • Installation of electrical power supply systems, control panels, and protection systems.
  • Integration of ozone system controls with existing plant automation and SCADA systems where applicable.
  • Installation of instrumentation and monitoring devices for ozone concentration, flow, and operational parameters.
  • Modification and connection of existing process piping and treatment systems.
  • Testing, calibration, and commissioning of the ozone treatment system.
  • Performance testing to verify disinfection efficiency and system reliability.
  • Preparation of technical documentation, operation manuals, testing reports, and as-built drawings.
  • Providing technical support during start-up and initial operation.
  • Ensuring compliance with occupational health, safety, and environmental (HSE) requirements throughout project execution.

Technological Impact

The project enhances the performance of the RO desalination plant in Wadi Ad-Dawasir through the implementation of advanced ozone treatment technology. The ozone system provides efficient disinfection and oxidation capabilities, improving treated water quality, reducing biological contamination risks, and enhancing overall treatment reliability.

The project contributes to sustainable water management by improving the efficiency of existing desalination facilities, reducing the use of traditional chemical disinfectants, extending equipment service life, and ensuring a reliable supply of high-quality treated water. It supports the adoption of modern water treatment technologies in accordance with engineering best practices and environmental requirements.
