Project Overview

This project, carried out for the Saudi Arabia Ministry of Water & Electricity / EMO Company, involves comprehensive operation and maintenance services for sludge dewatering units at Manfouha Sewage Treatment Plant in Riyadh Governorate.

The project aims to ensure the efficient and continuous operation of sludge treatment and dewatering facilities through specialised operation management and the implementation of preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programmes. It focuses on improving sludge handling efficiency, maintaining equipment reliability, reducing operational issues, and supporting sustainable wastewater treatment operations.

The project contributes to enhancing the performance of Manfouha Sewage Treatment Plant by optimising sludge management processes, improving dewatered sludge quality, reducing disposal challenges, and ensuring compliance with environmental and operational requirements.

Scope of Work

The project includes comprehensive operation and maintenance activities for sludge dewatering units, including:

  • Operation and monitoring of sludge dewatering systems and associated facilities.
  • Operation and maintenance of sludge processing equipment, including belt filter presses, centrifuges, pumps, conveyors, mixers, and auxiliary systems.
  • Operation and maintenance of sludge feed systems, polymer dosing systems, and chemical preparation units.
  • Maintenance of mechanical equipment, including motors, gearboxes, valves, pipelines, and rotating equipment.
  • Maintenance of electrical systems, control panels, Motor Control Centres (MCCs), instrumentation, automation systems, and SCADA systems where applicable.
  • Monitoring sludge characteristics and dewatering performance through operational inspections and testing.
  • Implementation of preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programmes for all sludge dewatering equipment.
  • Inspection, cleaning, and maintenance of sludge handling facilities and related infrastructure.
  • Troubleshooting operational problems and implementing corrective actions to minimise downtime.
  • Optimisation of dewatering processes to improve sludge dryness and reduce disposal volumes.
  • Management of spare parts, equipment condition assessment, and replacement of defective components when required.
  • Preparation of operation and maintenance plans, technical reports, performance records, and maintenance documentation.
  • Ensuring compliance with occupational health, safety, and environmental (HSE) requirements throughout project execution.
