Project Overview
This project, carried out for the Saudi Arabia Ministry of Water & Electricity, involves comprehensive operation and maintenance services for two sewage treatment plants located in Dhura and Jail in Najran Governorate.
The project aims to ensure the continuous, safe, and efficient operation of wastewater treatment facilities through professional operation management and the implementation of preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programmes. It focuses on maintaining treatment efficiency, ensuring compliance with environmental requirements, improving plant reliability, and supporting sustainable wastewater management.
The project contributes to enhancing wastewater infrastructure in Najran Governorate by optimising treatment processes, extending equipment service life, reducing operational risks, and ensuring the safe treatment and disposal of sewage water in accordance with approved technical and environmental standards.
Scope of Work
The project includes comprehensive operation and maintenance activities for the two sewage treatment plants, including:
- Continuous operation and monitoring of both sewage treatment plants and associated facilities.
- Operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment units, including screening systems, grit removal units, biological treatment units, aeration systems, clarification tanks, sludge handling systems, and disinfection facilities.
- Operation and maintenance of mechanical equipment, including pumps, motors, blowers, valves, pipelines, and auxiliary systems.
- Maintenance of electrical systems, distribution panels, Motor Control Centres (MCCs), instrumentation, automation systems, and SCADA systems where applicable.
- Monitoring influent and treated wastewater quality through laboratory testing and analysis.
- Implementation of preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programmes for all plant equipment and assets.
- Inspection, cleaning, and maintenance of treatment tanks, pipelines, pumping stations, and related infrastructure.
- Monitoring operational parameters and optimising treatment processes to improve efficiency and reliability.
- Troubleshooting, emergency response, and corrective actions to minimise operational interruptions.
- Management of spare parts, equipment condition assessment, and replacement of defective components when required.
- Preparation of operation and maintenance plans, technical reports, performance records, and operational documentation.
- Ensuring compliance with occupational health, safety, and environmental (HSE) requirements throughout project execution.
Technological Impact
The project enhances the reliability and efficiency of wastewater treatment operations in Dhura and Jail through the application of advanced operation and maintenance practices and effective asset management strategies. The implementation of monitoring systems, process optimisation techniques, and structured maintenance programmes improves operational control, reduces equipment failures, and increases plant availability.
The project supports sustainable wastewater management by improving treated water quality, reducing environmental impacts, extending the service life of treatment facilities, and optimising operational costs. It contributes to the development of reliable wastewater treatment infrastructure in Najran Governorate in accordance with modern engineering practices and environmental standards.
