Operation and Maintenance of Deep Wells and Two Water Treatment Plants in Dammam Governorate

Operation and Maintenance of Deep Wells and Two Water Treatment Plants in Dammam Governorate

Project Overview

This project, carried out for the Saudi Arabia National Guard, involves comprehensive operation and maintenance services for deep wells and two water treatment plants in Dammam Governorate.

The project aims to ensure the continuous, safe, and efficient operation of groundwater extraction systems and water treatment facilities through professional operation management and the implementation of preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programmes.

The project focuses on maintaining reliable water production, improving treatment plant performance, ensuring high-quality treated water, and supporting sustainable water supply services for National Guard facilities. It contributes to enhancing water infrastructure reliability, extending equipment service life, reducing operational risks, and ensuring compliance with technical, environmental, and health standards.

Scope of Work

The project includes comprehensive operation and maintenance activities for deep wells and water treatment plants, including:

  • Operation and monitoring of deep wells, pumping systems, and associated facilities.
  • Operation and maintenance of two water treatment plants and all related treatment units.
  • Operation and maintenance of water treatment processes, including filtration systems, chemical dosing systems, disinfection systems, and associated treatment equipment.
  • Maintenance of deep well pumps, submersible pumps, motors, valves, pipelines, and mechanical equipment.
  • Maintenance of electrical systems, power distribution panels, Motor Control Centres (MCCs), instrumentation, automation systems, and SCADA systems where applicable.
  • Monitoring raw water and treated water quality through laboratory testing and analysis.
  • Implementation of preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programmes for all plant assets.
  • Inspection, cleaning, and maintenance of water tanks, pumping stations, pipelines, and associated facilities.
  • Monitoring operational parameters and optimising treatment processes to improve efficiency and reliability.
  • Troubleshooting, emergency response, and corrective actions to minimise service interruptions.
  • Management of spare parts, equipment condition assessment, and replacement of defective components when required.
  • Preparation of operation and maintenance plans, technical reports, performance records, and operational documentation.
  • Ensuring compliance with occupational health, safety, and environmental (HSE) requirements throughout project execution.

Technological Impact

The project enhances the reliability and efficiency of water supply and treatment operations in Dammam Governorate through the application of advanced operation and maintenance practices for groundwater extraction and treatment facilities.

The implementation of effective monitoring systems, structured maintenance programmes, and optimised treatment processes improves operational control, reduces equipment failures, and increases the availability of critical water infrastructure.

The project supports sustainable water resource management by ensuring continuous production of high-quality treated water, improving groundwater utilisation, extending the service life of essential equipment, and providing reliable water services for Saudi Arabia National Guard facilities in accordance with modern engineering practices and environmental standards.
