MEP, Procurement, Engineering, Testing, and Commissioning of STP at Camps Khashm Al Aan Suburb

Project Overview

This critical environmental infrastructure project entails the comprehensive Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) engineering, procurement, system modifications, and final commissioning of the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) serving the Saudi Arabia National Guard (SANG) camps in the Khashm Al Aan Suburb. Executed in partnership with Water Technology System Engineering, the project aims to upgrade, retrofit, and operationalize the wastewater facility to meet the high-capacity sanitation demands of the military base. Ensuring a robust, compliant wastewater treatment cycle is vital for base hygiene, public health, and the sustainable reuse of treated effluent for localized landscaping.

Scope of Work

  • Procurement & Supply Chain Management: Strategic sourcing, quality inspection, and procurement of heavy-duty electromechanical equipment, including sewage pumps, aeration blowers, and advanced filtration units, ensuring strict compliance with SANG’s military engineering standards.

  • MEP Modifications & Installations: Execution of complex mechanical piping retrofits, structural enhancements, and the installation of new electrical switchgears, Motor Control Centers (MCCs), and robust cabling infrastructure to modernize the plant's power distribution.

  • Process Optimization: Structural and mechanical modifications to the biological treatment basins, clarification zones, and disinfection stages to dynamically increase the plant's hydraulic load capacity and organic treatment efficiency.

  • Pre-Commissioning & Testing: Conducting rigorous Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), alongside exhaustive hydro-testing, loop checking, and electrical megger testing across all newly modified and integrated systems.

  • Commissioning & Handover: Full process start-up, biological seeding of the aeration tanks, fine-tuning of the PLC/SCADA automation logic, and multi-day performance validation to guarantee the effluent meets strict environmental discharge criteria before final handover to SANG facility management.

Technological Impact

The strategic MEP modifications and the integration of advanced PLC/SCADA automation breathe new life into the aging facility, transforming it into a highly efficient, self-regulating treatment plant. By replacing outdated electromechanical components with premium, high-efficiency motors and optimized aeration diffusers, the plant achieves a drastically reduced carbon footprint and lower electrical consumption. Furthermore, the meticulously commissioned treatment process guarantees the reliable production of high-quality, odorless treated effluent. This allows the Khashm Al Aan military suburb to safely repurpose 100% of its wastewater for extensive irrigation, directly supporting the National Guard's environmental sustainability and water conservation goals.
