Operation and Maintenance of Two Sewage Pumping Stations in Abu Khalifah City, Ismailia Governorate

Project Overview

This project, undertaken for the National Authority for Potable Water and Sewage (NAPWASD), involves the comprehensive operation and maintenance of two sewage pumping stations in Abu Khalifah City, Ismailia Governorate. The project aims to ensure the continuous, reliable, and efficient collection and transfer of wastewater to treatment facilities while maintaining compliance with environmental, operational, and safety requirements. Through effective operation, preventive maintenance, and continuous performance monitoring, the project supports sustainable wastewater services, protects public health, and enhances the reliability and efficiency of wastewater infrastructure in Ismailia Governorate.

Scope of Work

The project encompasses the complete operation and maintenance of all mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and civil assets associated with the two sewage pumping stations. Key activities include:

  • Continuous operation and performance monitoring of sewage pumping stations.
  • Preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of pumps, motors, valves, generators, electrical panels, and control systems.
  • Inspection, cleaning, and maintenance of wet wells, discharge pipelines, screens, and associated facilities.
  • Operation and maintenance of SCADA systems, instrumentation, automation, and control systems where applicable.
  • Monitoring wastewater flow rates and operational parameters to ensure reliable service delivery.
  • Emergency response and breakdown maintenance to minimise service interruptions.
  • Spare parts management, equipment condition assessment, and replacement of damaged or deteriorated components.
  • Preparation of operational reports, maintenance records, and performance analyses in accordance with NAPWASD requirements.
  • Implementation of occupational health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards throughout all project activities.

Technological Impact

The project enhances the operational efficiency and reliability of wastewater conveyance systems through the application of modern operation and maintenance technologies. The integration of SCADA systems, real-time monitoring, automated control solutions, predictive maintenance approaches, and digital asset management improves operational visibility, enables early fault detection, and optimises maintenance planning.

These technological advancements contribute to reducing unexpected equipment failures, improving energy efficiency, extending the service life of critical assets, and ensuring uninterrupted wastewater transfer services. Additionally, the use of digital monitoring and performance analysis supports effective decision-making, enhances system reliability, and promotes sustainable wastewater infrastructure management in Abu Khalifah City, Ismailia Governorate.
