Project Overview
This project, carried out for the Saudi Arabia Ministry of Defense / KAMA, involves comprehensive operation and maintenance services for deep wells and a Reverse Osmosis (RO) desalination plant.
The project aims to ensure the continuous, safe, and efficient operation of the water supply system through the professional management of deep wells and the desalination plant, supported by preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programmes. It focuses on producing high-quality potable water, maximising operational reliability and efficiency, and ensuring compliance with environmental, health, and operational standards.
The project contributes to strengthening water supply security for Ministry of Defense facilities, improving water resource utilisation, and supporting the long-term sustainability of critical water infrastructure.
Scope of Work
The project encompasses comprehensive operation and maintenance activities for the deep wells and RO desalination plant, including:
- Continuous operation and monitoring of deep wells and the desalination plant.
- Operation and maintenance of deep well pumps, feed pumps, high-pressure pumps, and associated mechanical and electromechanical equipment.
- Operation and maintenance of Reverse Osmosis (RO) systems, including RO membranes, pressure vessels, pre-treatment units, chemical dosing systems, and associated equipment.
- Operation and maintenance of electrical systems, distribution panels, Motor Control Centres (MCCs), instrumentation, automation systems, and SCADA systems where applicable.
- Monitoring raw water and treated water quality through routine laboratory testing to ensure compliance with required specifications.
- Preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of pumps, motors, valves, pipelines, storage tanks, generators, and auxiliary equipment.
- Inspection, cleaning, and maintenance of deep wells, water storage tanks, pipelines, and associated facilities.
- Monitoring operational performance indicators and optimising desalination processes to improve efficiency and reduce energy consumption.
- Troubleshooting, emergency response, and corrective maintenance to minimise operational downtime.
- Spare parts management, equipment condition assessment, and replacement of deteriorated components as required.
- Preparation of operation and maintenance plans, technical reports, performance records, and operational documentation.
- Ensuring compliance with occupational health, safety, and environmental (HSE) requirements throughout project execution.
Technological Impact
The project enhances the reliability and efficiency of the water supply system through the application of advanced operation and maintenance practices for deep wells and Reverse Osmosis (RO) desalination technology. The integration of SCADA systems, modern instrumentation, automated process control, and predictive maintenance strategies improves operational control, increases water production efficiency, reduces energy consumption, and enables early fault detection.
The project supports sustainable water resource management by improving water quality, extending equipment service life, reducing operation and maintenance costs, and ensuring a secure and reliable water supply for Ministry of Defense facilities. It also promotes the implementation of modern engineering practices and environmentally sustainable water management solutions in accordance with international standards.
