Project Overview
This project, carried out for the Saudi Public Pension Agency and Veolia, involves the execution of electromechanical and civil works for the installation of a Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) Package at Al Raka Compound in Dammam Governorate.
The project aims to provide an efficient and reliable wastewater treatment solution through the installation of advanced biological treatment technology. It includes the implementation of civil infrastructure, mechanical systems, electrical installations, and associated works required for the successful operation of the packaged wastewater treatment plant.
The project contributes to improving wastewater management, enhancing environmental protection, and ensuring sustainable treatment operations in accordance with applicable standards and requirements.
Scope of Work
The project encompasses comprehensive electromechanical and civil works for the MBBR STP package installation, including:
- Execution of civil works required for the installation of the MBBR wastewater treatment plant package.
- Installation, assembly, and commissioning of mechanical equipment and treatment units.
- Installation of MBBR reactors, aeration systems, pumps, blowers, tanks, pipelines, valves, and associated equipment.
- Installation of electrical systems, control panels, power supply systems, and instrumentation.
- Integration and testing of automation and control systems for efficient plant operation.
- Installation and connection of inlet and outlet pipelines, drainage systems, and hydraulic structures.
- Testing, commissioning, and performance verification of the wastewater treatment plant.
- Inspection and quality control of installed equipment and civil works to ensure compliance with project specifications.
- Coordination between civil, mechanical, and electrical activities to achieve smooth project execution.
- Preparation of technical documentation, operation manuals, and commissioning records.
- Ensuring compliance with occupational health, safety, and environmental (HSE) requirements throughout project implementation.
Technological Impact
The project introduces advanced biological wastewater treatment technology through the implementation of the MBBR process, which improves treatment efficiency, reduces the required footprint, and enhances operational flexibility compared with conventional treatment systems.
The integration of modern electromechanical systems, automated controls, and efficient aeration technologies improves plant performance, energy management, and operational reliability. The project supports sustainable wastewater management by improving treated water quality, reducing environmental impact, and enabling efficient long-term operation of the wastewater treatment facility at Al Raka Compound in Dammam Governorate.
