Operation and Maintenance & Training of: 1. Wastewater Treatment Plant 2. Olympic Swimming Pool 3. Water Treatment Plant 4. Raw Water Intake Pumping Station 5. Sewage Water Pumping Station in Ismailia Governorate

Project Overview

This project, undertaken for the General Authority for Urban Planning, involves the comprehensive operation, maintenance, and training services for an integrated group of facilities, including a Wastewater Treatment Plant, Olympic Swimming Pool, Water Treatment Plant, Raw Water Intake Pumping Station, and Sewage Water Pumping Station in Ismailia Governorate. The project aims to ensure the safe, continuous, and efficient operation of all facilities while maintaining compliance with environmental, health, safety, and operational standards. In addition to operation and maintenance activities, the project includes specialised training programmes to enhance the technical capabilities of operation and maintenance teams, improve facility management practices, and ensure the long-term sustainability and reliability of the infrastructure.

Scope of Work

The project encompasses comprehensive operation, maintenance, and training activities for all facilities, including:

  • Continuous operation and performance monitoring of the wastewater treatment plant, water treatment plant, raw water intake pumping station, sewage pumping station, and Olympic swimming pool.
  • Preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of pumps, motors, blowers, valves, generators, electrical panels, mechanical equipment, and electromechanical systems.
  • Operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment units, including screening systems, grit removal units, biological treatment units, sedimentation tanks, sludge handling facilities, and disinfection systems.
  • Operation and maintenance of potable water treatment units, including raw water intake facilities, coagulation and flocculation units, sedimentation tanks, filtration systems, chemical dosing systems, disinfection units, and treated water storage facilities.
  • Operation and maintenance of the raw water intake pumping station and sewage pumping station, including pumping systems, pipelines, and associated infrastructure.
  • Operation and maintenance of all mechanical, electrical, water circulation, filtration, and disinfection systems related to the Olympic swimming pool to ensure water quality and compliance with health standards.
  • Operation and maintenance of SCADA, instrumentation, automation, and control systems where applicable.
  • Monitoring potable water quality, wastewater treatment performance, and swimming pool water quality through laboratory testing to ensure compliance with approved standards.
  • Spare parts management, equipment condition assessment, and replacement of deteriorated components.
  • Emergency response and troubleshooting to minimise operational interruptions.
  • Development and implementation of technical training programmes for operation and maintenance personnel covering facility operation, equipment maintenance, safety procedures, emergency response, and best practices.
  • Preparation of operational reports, performance analyses, and technical documentation in accordance with General Authority for Urban Planning requirements.
  • Implementation of occupational health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards throughout all project activities.

Technological Impact

The project enhances the efficiency, reliability, and sustainability of integrated water, wastewater, and recreational facilities through the implementation of advanced operation and maintenance technologies. The use of SCADA systems, real-time monitoring, automated control solutions, predictive maintenance strategies, and digital asset management improves operational visibility, enables early fault detection, and enhances the overall performance of all facilities.

The technical training programmes strengthen the capabilities of operation and maintenance teams, facilitate knowledge transfer, and promote the adoption of modern management practices for water, wastewater, and recreational infrastructure. These technological and operational improvements contribute to improving service quality, reducing downtime, increasing energy efficiency, extending equipment life cycles, and ensuring sustainable and reliable operation of the various facilities in Ismailia Governorate.
