Operation and Maintenance of Nile Cruisers Sewage Pumping Station in Cairo, El Menia, Asyut, and Sohag Governorates

Project Overview

This project, undertaken for the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency, involves comprehensive operation and maintenance services for sewage pumping stations serving Nile cruisers in Cairo, El Menia, Asyut, and Sohag Governorates. The project aims to ensure the effective collection and safe management of wastewater generated from Nile cruisers, preventing direct discharge into the Nile River and supporting environmental protection objectives.

The project focuses on maintaining the operational efficiency and reliability of sewage pumping stations through professional operation, preventive maintenance, corrective actions, and technical management practices. It contributes to preserving water quality, protecting aquatic ecosystems, and supporting sustainable environmental management along the Nile River.

Scope of Work

The project encompasses comprehensive operation and maintenance activities for Nile cruisers sewage pumping stations, including:

  • Continuous operation and monitoring of sewage pumping stations serving Nile cruisers in the designated governorates.
  • Operation and maintenance of sewage pumping units, collection systems, storage tanks, pumps, valves, pipelines, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical systems.
  • Inspection, cleaning, and maintenance of sewage collection facilities, pipelines, valves, and associated structures.
  • Monitoring wastewater levels, flow rates, equipment performance, and operational parameters.
  • Ensuring proper collection and transfer of wastewater from Nile cruisers to approved treatment facilities.
  • Operation and maintenance of electrical systems, control panels, generators, and backup power systems.
  • Troubleshooting equipment failures and implementing corrective measures to minimise operational interruptions.
  • Managing spare parts, evaluating equipment conditions, and replacing damaged components when required.
  • Preparing operation and maintenance reports, records, and technical documentation according to Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency requirements.
  • Ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, occupational health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards throughout all project activities.

Technological Impact

The project enhances environmental protection and wastewater management efficiency along the Nile River through the implementation of advanced operation and maintenance practices. The application of modern monitoring systems, improved pumping technologies, preventive maintenance strategies, and effective asset management improves the reliability and performance of sewage pumping stations.

The project contributes to preventing wastewater pollution of the Nile River, improving operational control, reducing equipment failures, extending asset service life, and supporting sustainable environmental management. It also strengthens the capabilities of operation and maintenance teams through the application of best practices in wastewater collection and pumping station management.
