Operation and Maintenance of Water Treatment Plant by RO in Ras Al Khair City

Operation and Maintenance of Water Treatment Plant by RO in Ras Al Khair City

Project Overview

This project, carried out for Ma’aden Phosphate Company and Veolia, involves comprehensive operation and maintenance services for a Reverse Osmosis (RO) Water Treatment Plant in Ras Al Khair City.

The project aims to ensure the continuous, efficient, and reliable operation of the RO water treatment facility through professional operation, preventive maintenance, corrective actions, and technical management practices. It supports sustainable water management for industrial operations by maintaining high-quality treated water production in compliance with technical standards, environmental requirements, and operational specifications.

The project focuses on enhancing plant performance, improving equipment reliability, optimising operational efficiency, and ensuring the long-term sustainability of the water treatment infrastructure.

Scope of Work

The project encompasses complete operation and maintenance activities for the RO Water Treatment Plant, including:

  • Continuous operation and monitoring of all RO treatment processes and plant facilities.
  • Operation and maintenance of RO units, high-pressure pumps, feed pumps, pressure vessels, membrane systems, piping networks, valves, and associated equipment.
  • Preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical systems.
  • Operation and maintenance of electrical systems, control panels, instrumentation, automation systems, and SCADA systems where applicable.
  • Monitoring raw water and treated water quality through laboratory analysis to ensure compliance with required standards.
  • Operation and maintenance of chemical dosing systems, filtration units, pumping systems, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Monitoring plant performance indicators, including production capacity, pressure levels, flow rates, and equipment efficiency.
  • Inspection, cleaning, and maintenance of tanks, pipelines, valves, and related hydraulic structures.
  • Troubleshooting and emergency response to minimise operational interruptions.
  • Spare parts management, equipment condition assessment, and replacement of deteriorated components.
  • Optimisation of RO system operation to improve water recovery rates, reduce energy consumption, and maintain membrane performance.
  • Preparation of operation and maintenance plans, technical reports, performance evaluations, and operational documentation.
  • Ensuring compliance with occupational health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards throughout all project activities.

Technological Impact

The project enhances the efficiency, reliability, and sustainability of water treatment operations in Ras Al Khair City through the application of advanced RO operation and maintenance technologies. The integration of real-time monitoring systems, automated controls, predictive maintenance strategies, and effective asset management improves operational control and enables early detection of equipment issues.

The project contributes to maintaining high-quality treated water production, improving energy efficiency, extending equipment service life, reducing operational costs, and ensuring the sustainable operation of the RO Water Treatment Plant. It also supports the implementation of modern water treatment management practices aligned with international engineering and environmental standards.
