Project Overview
This project, undertaken for the Ministry of Interior, involves comprehensive operation, maintenance, and training services for the Water Treatment Plant at Abu Zabal Jail. The project aims to ensure the continuous, efficient, and reliable production of safe potable water while maintaining compliance with water quality standards, operational requirements, and health and safety regulations.
The project focuses on maintaining the performance and reliability of water treatment facilities through professional operation, preventive maintenance, corrective actions, and technical management practices. In addition to operation and maintenance activities, the project includes specialised training programmes to enhance the capabilities of operation and maintenance personnel and ensure sustainable management of the water treatment facility.
Scope of Work
The project encompasses complete operation, maintenance, and training activities for the Water Treatment Plant, including:
- Continuous operation and monitoring of all water treatment processes and plant facilities.
- Operation and maintenance of water treatment units, including raw water intake systems, screening units, coagulation and flocculation units, sedimentation tanks, filtration units, disinfection systems, and treated water storage facilities.
- Preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of pumps, motors, valves, generators, electrical panels, mechanical equipment, and electromechanical systems.
- Monitoring raw water and treated water quality through laboratory analysis to ensure compliance with potable water standards.
- Operation and maintenance of chemical dosing systems, water pumping systems, and auxiliary equipment.
- Operation and maintenance of SCADA, instrumentation, automation, and control systems where applicable.
- Inspection, cleaning, and maintenance of tanks, pipelines, valves, and associated hydraulic structures.
- Monitoring water production rates, pressure levels, equipment performance, and operational parameters to ensure efficient plant performance.
- Emergency response, troubleshooting, and corrective maintenance to minimise operational interruptions.
- Spare parts management, equipment condition assessment, and replacement of deteriorated components.
- Development and implementation of technical training programmes for operation and maintenance personnel covering plant operation, equipment maintenance, safety procedures, and best practices.
- Preparation of operation and maintenance plans, technical reports, performance evaluations, and documentation according to Ministry of Interior requirements.
- Ensuring compliance with occupational health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards throughout all project activities.
Technological Impact
The project enhances the efficiency, reliability, and sustainability of potable water production at Abu Zabal Jail through the application of advanced operation and maintenance technologies. The integration of SCADA systems, real-time monitoring, automated control solutions, predictive maintenance strategies, and digital asset management improves operational control, enables early fault detection, and optimises the performance of the water treatment plant.
The technical training programmes strengthen the capabilities of operation and maintenance teams, support knowledge transfer, and promote the adoption of modern water treatment management practices. These technological and operational improvements contribute to improving water quality, reducing operational costs, enhancing energy efficiency, extending equipment service life, and ensuring the reliable and sustainable operation of the water treatment facility at Abu Zabal Jail.
