Operation and Maintenance & Training of Sewage Pumping Stations and Natural Oxidation Ponds in New Beni Suef City, Beni Suef Governorate

Project Overview

This project, undertaken for the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA), involves the operation, maintenance, and training services for sewage pumping stations and natural oxidation ponds in New Beni Suef City, Beni Suef Governorate. The project aims to ensure the reliable collection, conveyance, and natural treatment of wastewater while maintaining continuous and efficient sanitation services. In addition to operational responsibilities, the project includes capacity building and technical training for operating personnel to enhance their competencies in plant operation, maintenance, safety, and environmental compliance.

Scope of Work

The project encompasses the complete operation, maintenance, and technical training associated with the sewage pumping stations and natural oxidation pond system. Key activities include:

  • Continuous operation and performance monitoring of sewage pumping stations and oxidation ponds.
  • Preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and civil infrastructure.
  • Inspection, cleaning, and maintenance of pumps, motors, valves, wet wells, pipelines, oxidation ponds, and associated facilities.
  • Operation and maintenance of SCADA, instrumentation, and control systems where applicable.
  • Monitoring of wastewater flow, treatment performance, and environmental compliance.
  • Emergency response and breakdown maintenance to minimise service interruptions.
  • Spare parts management, asset condition assessment, and equipment replacement.
  • Development and delivery of technical training programmes for operational and maintenance staff covering equipment operation, preventive maintenance, health and safety, emergency procedures, and environmental best practices.
  • Preparation of operational reports, performance analyses, and compliance documentation in accordance with NUCA requirements.

Technological Impact

The project enhances the efficiency and sustainability of wastewater management by integrating advanced operation and maintenance practices with technical capacity development. The implementation of SCADA systems, real-time operational monitoring, predictive maintenance techniques, and data-driven asset management improves equipment reliability, reduces unplanned downtime, and optimises operational performance. The inclusion of structured training programmes strengthens the technical capabilities of operating personnel, promotes knowledge transfer, improves safety and maintenance practices, and supports the long-term sustainability and resilience of the wastewater infrastructure in New Beni Suef City.
