Operation and Maintenance of Small Sewage Treatment Plants in Sebia & Abu Arish Cities

Operation and Maintenance of Small Sewage Treatment Plants in Sebia & Abu Arish Cities

Project Overview

This project, carried out for the Saudi Arabia Ministry of Water & Electricity, involves comprehensive operation and maintenance services for small sewage treatment plants located in Sabya and Abu Arish Cities.

The project aims to ensure the continuous, reliable, and efficient operation of wastewater treatment facilities through professional operation, preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and technical management practices. It focuses on maintaining treated wastewater quality, improving treatment efficiency, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and operational standards.

The project contributes to enhancing wastewater management services, protecting the environment, and supporting sustainable sanitation infrastructure in Sabya and Abu Arish Cities.

Scope of Work

The project encompasses comprehensive operation and maintenance activities for small sewage treatment plants, including:

  • Continuous operation and monitoring of wastewater treatment plants and associated facilities.
  • Operation and maintenance of treatment units, including screening systems, biological treatment units, aeration systems, sedimentation tanks, filtration units, sludge handling systems, and disinfection facilities.
  • Preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of pumps, motors, blowers, valves, electrical panels, control systems, and electromechanical equipment.
  • Monitoring influent and treated wastewater quality through laboratory analysis to ensure compliance with environmental standards.
  • Operation and maintenance of electrical systems, instrumentation, automation, and SCADA systems where applicable.
  • Inspection, cleaning, and maintenance of tanks, pipelines, channels, valves, and treatment structures.
  • Optimisation of treatment processes to improve plant efficiency and maintain treated wastewater quality.
  • Troubleshooting, emergency response, and corrective maintenance to minimise service interruptions.
  • Spare parts management, equipment condition assessment, and replacement of damaged components.
  • Preparation of operation and maintenance plans, technical reports, and performance evaluations.
  • Ensuring compliance with occupational health, safety, and environmental (HSE) requirements throughout project activities.

Technological Impact

The project enhances the efficiency, reliability, and sustainability of wastewater treatment operations through the implementation of advanced operation and maintenance practices. The use of modern monitoring systems, instrumentation, automation, and effective maintenance strategies improves operational control, enables early fault detection, and optimises treatment performance.

The project supports sustainable wastewater management by improving treated water quality, reducing environmental impacts, extending equipment service life, and ensuring reliable operation of sewage treatment facilities. It contributes to the development of efficient sanitation services and sustainable water resource management practices in Sabya and Abu Arish Cities.
