Shoaiba, Rabigh & Jeddah South Thermal Power Plants (WOA PPS)

Shoaiba, Rabigh & Jeddah South Thermal Power Plants (WOA PPS)

Project Overview

This strategic initiative involves the deployment, rental, and operation of mobile desalination plants across three major thermal power generation facilities in the Western Operating Area (WOA): Shoaiba, Rabigh, and Jeddah South. Executed for the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC), this project is designed to provide immediate and reliable access to high-purity demineralized water. Securing this continuous water supply is critical for boiler feed systems and cooling towers, ensuring the uninterrupted and efficient generation of electricity across the western region.

Scope of Work

  • Rapid Deployment & Installation: Logistics, site preparation, and installation of containerized, plug-and-play Reverse Osmosis (RO) and demineralization units tailored to the specific raw water conditions of each power plant.

  • Continuous Operation: 24/7 operation and monitoring of the mobile plants to meet the highly variable and stringent daily water demands of the thermal power facilities.

  • System Integration: Seamless hydraulic and electrical integration of the mobile units into the existing power plants' raw water intake and high-purity water distribution networks.

  • Maintenance & Membrane Management: Comprehensive preventive and corrective maintenance, including routine membrane cleaning (CIP), filter replacements, and electromechanical servicing to ensure peak system availability.

  • Water Quality Assurance: Continuous inline monitoring and daily laboratory testing to ensure the product water meets SEC's ultra-pure conductivity and silica requirements for high-pressure boilers.

Technological Impact

The deployment of containerized, modular Reverse Osmosis technology provides SEC with unparalleled operational flexibility. These mobile units act as a highly responsive safety net, capable of being scaled up or rapidly relocated based on seasonal power demands or emergency outages in permanent water facilities. By guaranteeing the continuous supply of ultra-pure water, the project directly prevents mineral scaling in turbines and boilers, thereby maximizing the thermal efficiency and extending the operational lifespan of the power plants' most critical heavy machinery.
